Because Guy has given the king surety by Aymer de St. Amand and Hugh de Vivonne for rendering £25 to him for his relief, order to cause him to have full seisin without delay of the aforesaid five fees with their appurtenances as the aforesaid William held them. 4

Order to Roger of Essex to take etc. and cause her to have full seisin of three bovates of land which he held of the king and of another two bovates of land that he did not hold of the king, and of the custody of the aforesaid heir.

The king, for himself and his heirs, has granted the manor of Ringwood with all its appurtenances to Master Simon de Steyland, to have and hold for life for the £50 which he is accustomed to receive as an annual fee at the Exchequer, so that, each year, Master Simon will render £20 for the same manor to the king and his heirs at the Exchequer for as long as he will live, namely £10 at Michaelmas and £10 at Easter. Order to cause him to have full seisin of the aforesaid manor with appurtenances.

Order to Adam son of William that, having accepted security from them for rendering as much relief to the king as pertains to the aforesaid two thirds, namely 100s. for the two thirds, he is to cause them to have full seisin of the aforesaid two thirds.

[No date]. Yorkshire. The king has granted to the abbot of Byland that he may render the 10 m. which are exacted from him by summons of the Exchequer for disseisin by his hand at the Exchequer at Easter in the twenty-second year. Order to the sheriff of Yorkshire to permit this.

30 Sept. Sherburn in Elmet. Hampshire. S’, in the Roll. Matthew de Columbariis has made fine with the king by 60 m. for having seisin of a moiety of the land formerly of Eudo de Morville , which Matthew took to wife Matilda, daughter and one of the heirs of the same Eudo, who is underage, and for having peace because he married Matilda without the king’s licence. Matthew is to render 10 m. of the same 60 m. to the king at Easter in the twenty-second year, 10 m. at Michaelmas in the same year, and 20 m. thus from year to year at the same terms until those 60 m. are paid to the king. Order to the sheriff of Hampshire to take security etc. and make over seisin to Matthew to his use and that of Matilda, his wife, and Elena, her sister, of the manor of Knighton 3 until that manor will be partitioned between them by someone who the king will send to do this, having retained in the king’s hand the dower that falls to the wife of Eudo until she has surrendered the aforesaid Elena to the king, who is of his gift. Once he has taken the aforesaid security for the same 60 m., he is to signify this to sheriff of Dorset and Somerset by his letters, whom the king has ordered to make over seisin of the manors of Bradpole and Wraxall, 4 having similarly retained the dower of the aforesaid wife in the [king’s] hand until etc., as above.

Walter of Tunstall , son of William of Tunstall, an heir of Adam of Tynedale , who was in the custody of W. archbishop of York by the king’s order, is dead, and the king has taken the homage of Nicholas of Boltby , who has to wife Phillippa, daughter and the other heir of the aforesaid Adam , to whom that portion which fell to Walter from Adam’s inheritance ought to descend, namely for a moiety of one knight’s fee in Fourstones and Allerwash . Order to the sheriff of Northumberland to take security from Nicholas for 50s. for his relief.

The king has given the prioress and nuns of Fosse outside Torksey those 124 acres of land and those seven tofts with appurtenances in Torksey in which they first had entry by the men of the same vill without the assent of the king and for which they are accustomed to render 20s. 7d. per annum to the king, henceforth rendering 46s. per annum by the hand of the keeper of the king’s demesne lands who will be at the time, namely a moiety at Easter and the other moiety at Michaelmas, saving to the king his tallages from the men of the same prioress and nuns whenever the king’s men of the same manor will be tallaged.

The king has granted to Ralph de Gorges the marriage of Helena , one of the daughters and heirs of Eudo de Morville and Isabella, his wife, and has committed to Brother Geoffrey, almoner, and Aymer de St. Amand a moiety of the lands formerly of both Eudo and Isabella to keep to the use of the same Ralph and Helena for as long as it pleases the king. Order to the sheriffs of Somerset, Dorset , Gloucestershire and Hampshire that once the aforesaid lands have been partitioned by those who Brother G. and A. will send to partition them, they are to cause the same Brother G. and A. to have full seisin of one moiety and Matthew de Columbariis and his wife, another of the daughters and heirs of the aforesaid Eudo and Isabella, of the other moiety, having retained in the king’s hand that moiety of the land, both of the dower and of the inheritance formerly of the same Isabella , which falls to Matthew and his wife, until the king orders otherwise.
